Well, it's May 2nd, but spring seems very far away right now! Snowing the last two days, and our once dry yard is now covered in a new blanket of heavy, wet snow! In everything give thanks, right?! We can definitely give thanks for the moisture, as there was a fire ban in our area due to dry conditions. So. Thank you Lord for the snow. The garden will wait, the yard will dry out again, and, for now, the thirsty ground will soak up the needed moisture, ready to awaken the dormant seeds and burst out with life, green buds and beautiful blossoms. Eventually. A lesson in patience, trust and faith perhaps? I know this is a minor inconvenience compared to the difficult struggles and tragedies others have recently been facing....but it's another reminder that we are called to worship God, and to give thanks, in the middle of life's challenges. We can't wait for perfect scenarios and circumstances to bring those offerings to God, because we might be waiting a very long time! No...we must simply be obedient to do what God instructed us to do in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, knowing that we are in His will when we "Rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances...". Not easy, but maybe that's why it's called the "sacrifice of praise" that we are CONTINUALLY to offer to God (Hebrews 13:15, also see Psalm 49:14 and Psalm 50:23). There is power in praise, especially when our natural inclination is to do anything BUT praise and thank Him. So, today I will choose to lift up an offering of gratitude and worship to my Lord and Saviour. I know it will bring His promised blessings when I obey, and my spirit will be lifted as I lift Him up! Be encouraged to allow the grace of God to strengthen you and enable you to do the same, and together we will open up the windows of heaven and let the SON shine in!
The songs on my recent CD, Made To Worship - Volume 1, were born in times when I opened my heart up to sing praise. I pray they will cultivate a heart of worship in us all as we sing and glorify our Almighty God.
