Humble Myself and Pray

If there ever was a time to pray...it's now.  More than ever, we need to seek God, to call upon His name, to draw close to Him, to bring the countless needs and petitions to Him, and to spend time in His presence, drawing upon the endless resources available to those who wait on Him.  2 Chronicles 7:14 is a well-known and often quoted scripture that describes what will move God's heart and hand and bring healing to our nations.  Humility, prayer, repentance. There is no other formula.  There is no option as a follower of Christ.  An attitude of prayer must pervade our lives if we want to see change.  Yesterday as I was driving home from the city on a snowy, blustery day, this verse came into my mind, and I begin to sing it as a personal statement.  Not just, "If my people will humble themselves and pray", but, rather, a commitment..."I will seek Your face...I will humble myself and pray"....It was my anthem for the remainder of the trip, and brought me peace and strength as I sung it to the Lord.  I offer it here as an invitation to join together in purpose and in prayer.  When God's people are united and obedient to His word...our prayers will be effective and powerful.

James 5:16

Let's be faithful/constant/instant/steadfast in prayer (Romans 12:12b)!!

Humble Myself and Pray

Lord I will seek Your face
Turn from my wicked ways
I will humble myself and pray
Humble myself and pray
Seek Your face
Turn from my wicked ways
I will humble myself and pray
Humble myself and pray
That's when You'll hear from heaven
Forgive our sins and heal our land
That's when You'll hear from heaven
Forgive our sins and heal our land
So I will seek Your face
Lord, I'll humble myself and pray
